How to Play
Open a Mini and start immediately. Play it solo, or invite one person into the same private crossword without asking them to install anything or make an account.
Choose a puzzle
Random Mini gives you a quick original puzzle and a Skip option when another Mini is available. Daily Mini is the dated puzzle for the current UTC day. Midi and Maxi are temporarily paused while their puzzle banks go through a stronger editorial review; their old entry links lead back to the ready Mini experience.
Play solo or invite one person
Select any white square and enter letters. To solve together, choose Invite, then send the private link using your preferred messaging app. Your guest opens that link in a browser and joins the same grid without an account. A room is for two players, not a public lobby.
Keyboard, mouse, and touch controls
- Type a letter to fill the selected square; Backspace removes it.
- Use arrow keys to move around the grid on a physical keyboard.
- Click or tap a square, clue, Across, or Down to change the active entry.
- On touch devices, use the on-screen letter keys below the grid.
- Check marks current mistakes without exposing the answer.
- Reveal fills the active clue and records that a reveal was used.
Progress, refresh, and reset behavior
Solo entries live in the current page session, so reloading a solo puzzle starts that grid again. There is no separate Reset button. On Random Mini, Skip starts another puzzle without carrying letters across. In a private room, this browser stores a room member key locally so it can attempt to recover the shared room after refresh while that room remains available.
If a private link is unavailable
Retry once in the same browser. If the room is missing, full, or temporarily unavailable, start a fresh solo Mini or ask the host to create a new invite. Do not post private room links publicly.
Accessibility and help
The grid supports keyboard movement, labelled cells, clue selection, and reduced-motion preferences. Browser-engine tests are not a claim of every physical device or assistive technology. If a control or puzzle creates a barrier, email privacy@kreydlabs.com and describe the public page, browser, and problem without sending a private room link or entered letters.
